Kellie Auto Sales Legal Issues

by cammy on August 1, 2011

Used car dealer Kellie Auto Sales is being sued by the Ohio attorney general claiming improper repossessions and misleading deals.

According to the complaint, the dealership offered interest-free financing and then inflated the cost of vehicles to cover the costs of the financing. Additionally, the dealership required large deposits on vehicles and failed to clearly inform customers of payment due dates. If customers missed a payment, the dealer immediately repossessed the vehicles.

Attorney General Mike DeWine reports, “This used-car dealership entered into one-sided financing agreements that made it almost impossible for consumers to afford the payments,”

The lawsuit involves conduct from the past two years, which could include up to 4,000 transactions and could result in more than $1million in customer restitution and fines, a spokesman said.

The attorney general’s office has received 75 complaints about the dealership since 2005.

Kellie Auto Sales is still open for business while the lawsuit is pending.
